SECURE EMAIL

WHAT IS SECURE EMAIL?

Secure email is a term used to describe a way to send a file to someone in a safe and efficient manner. The terms “ad hoc” or “person to person”  are also sometimes used.

To elaborate, let’s set the scene. It’s 5.30 pm on a Friday afternoon. You have been working on a really important proposal for a new client that’s due for submission and you just have to send it now. It could be that the file is too large for your email server to process as an attachment or that it’s super sensitive and you need visibility of receipt by your client rather than the send and forget approach of email. What do you do?

A secure email solution will quite simply allow you to create a single job, enter the email address of your recipient, add a download link and press send. That’s it. No further details concerning your recipient are required and all they need in order to receive the file is a standard email account.

Ad Hoc file transfer typically is implemented by businesses that need to gain greater visibility of files leaving and entering the organisation. More often than not these days they’re implemented to replace consumer-grade solutions like Dropbox or other cloud based systems.
