The Environment 

A major UK banking group, listed on the FTSE All Share index and serving more than 10 million customers, has grown significantly since its inception.

Specialising in credit cards and loans, the organisation has built a strong reputation for supporting customers often underserved by mainstream lenders. Today, the group operates more than 15 subsidiaries and continues to grow both organically and through acquisition, playing an increasingly important role in the UK financial services landscape.

The Challenge 

Following a strategic acquisition and a wider digital consolidation initiative, the group faced an urgent need to streamline how files were shared and exchanged across its expanding estate. Different subsidiaries were using different Managed File Transfer (MFT) tools, resulting in unnecessary complexity, operational inefficiencies, and rising IT costs.

With regulatory and security requirements varying across the banking group, the challenge was not simply technical. The organisation needed expert guidance to assess its existing platforms and consolidate them into a single, secure, and scalable MFT solution that could support the entire group. This included evaluating leading platforms in the market, like GoAnywhere, Globalscape EFT, MOVEit, and Thru, and develop a clear migration path to replace existing workflows, while ensuring the chosen solution could be configured to meet GDPR, PCI DSS, and FCA compliance requirements across all subsidiaries.

Pro2col provided expert consultancy and insight throughout the project, drawing on its deep expertise in Managed File Transfer and hands-on experience with all the platforms under consideration.

A structured, requirements-led evaluation process was delivered, beginning with discovery and principal evaluation to identify critical workflows, security requirements, and compliance needs. Pro2col then coordinated proof-of-concept trials, running 30-day evaluations of both Thru MFTaaS and GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer. Alongside this, consultancy and professional services were provided to assess best-fit solutions for scalability and regulatory alignment, and to develop a migration plan that supported the group’s broader consolidation strategy.

Following rigorous testing, GoAnywhere was selected as the group’s enterprise-wide MFT platform. Pro2col went on to support implementation through managed services for the initial deployment and ongoing product support, alongside professional services consultancy to migrate 17 priority workflow jobs and plan for the future migration of a further 170 workflows. To support long-term success, Pro2col provided the team with 
CPD-accredited Certified File Transfer Professional (CFTP) training, ensuring they can maintain the systems independently in the long run.

The Results

The implementation of GoAnywhere delivered immediate and long-term benefits for the organisation. File transfer processes were consolidated and simplified across subsidiaries, reducing complexity and improving visibility. Security and compliance were strengthened through robust encryption, auditing, and governance capabilities, while operational efficiency improved through more consistent and manageable workflows. “There has been a real ripple effect from their work, and it is appreciated” said the customer.
