What’s New in Files.com: The Latest Feature Roundup

There has been a significant flurry of new features from the Files.com team over the past few months. At last count, since July there are over 70 new features or minor updates to the system, a number of which are eye-catching additions to what is already a robust product.

However, perhaps the most impressive addition is one that isn’t available yet (sorry!) but is a hugely impressive leap forward for the product. Files.com have recently entered beta for their latest version of their automation engine, and our technical team have spent the last few weeks enthusiastically kicking the tyres, and putting this new automation engine through its paces.

The array of new functionality on display in the beta is impressive, and the feedback from the Pro2col consultants is that these improvements put Files.com on par with what is out there across the rest of the MFT marketplace from an automation perspective.

Files.com August 2026 Updates

    • Malware Scanning: Users on the Enterprise Plan now have access to malware scanning within Files.com. This allows the scanning and verification of every file uploaded into a folder, and the quarantining of infected files before anyone accesses or transfers it onward. In a world where Zero Trust principles are being applied rigorously to file transfer this is a huge addition to the system. From a security perspective it also makes Files.com a hugely attractive choice for organisations adopting Pro2col's MFT Shield technology.

    • Multiple Child Site Management Policies: Child site policies have been given an overhaul, with admins now able to assign specific policies to child sites. That includes enforcing settings, branding and security requirements for individual business units. Essentially more control over your system, and granularity if you wish to expand site usage to different departments or partners.

    • Custom Holiday Calendars: Holidays are often something of a nightmare for file transfer admins – particularly when the holiday in question doesn’t have a defined date. Bank holidays, Easter, Christmas or international holidays observed by parts of an organisation can cause havoc with scheduled automations. Now you can manage processing based on custom-built calendars. Just don’t forget those pesky leap years.

    • Direct Transfers for the On-Prem Agents: Cut out the middleman and send file data direct to your On-Prem Agent, without the need to relay the file through Files.com, speeding up your transfers dramatically. Files.com reports transfer speeds of three to five times faster than competing products.

    • Agent High Availability: A big one here for clients who have chosen a SaaS product for the uptime benefits. Your HA strategy only works if the whole of your transfer system is HA (and DR) ready. Now your on-prem agents are also HA, with automatic connection failovers and multiple agent nodes.

    • Content Validation: Admins usually know what to expect when receiving files from their partners and wider supply chain, but every now and then something goes wrong. Content validation provides that comfort blanket you need. It finds when one of the files you receive doesn’t conform with your expectation matches – wrong columns, wrong formats etc.

    • FedRamp Security Mode: FedRamp is something the Pro2col team have been coming across more over the last couple of years, particularly with businesses who work closely with US Government Agencies.     • Reusable Schedules: A potential time saver here for your file transfer admins. Reusable Schedules allow you to define once and reuse a schedule across automations, syncs, AI tasks, expectations and scheduled exports. So, if anything specific changes all a user needs to do is update the schedule and all the tasks following it will be updated in turn.

    • Deploy the macOS Desktop App via Microsoft Intune

    • Create Shre Links from the Desktop App

    • Additional Email Recipients on a User Account

    • Requested Upload Slots for Inboxes

    • Can Require Email-Based-One Time Password for All Share Links

    • Custom Email Content for Event Channel Subscriptions

    • Multiple Days on an Interval Schedule

Eye Catching Files.com New Features from June and July 2026

As I mentioned earlier, over the last quarter there have been close to 70 new features released. August was a particularly busy month, but both June and July had important features rolled out. Here is a short list of what we think are the most exciting updates:

 

July 2026

    • Updates to the AI Assistant: Already one of the standout features of Files.com is their use of AI Assistants to ease the learning curve and support admin staff. Our team has been impressed with how capable the tool is already following big updates in July, including the introduction of AI Personalities, Chat Memory across sessions and chat history features.

    • Scheduled and Action Triggered Tasks: Admins can now create AI Tasks that store a prompt for the assistant extending the AI assistant beyond one-off chat sessions into recurring or event-driven automation.

    • Partner Channel Managed Folders and Templates: Event Channel events written directly to a folder, and direct Snowflake stage connections. In plain terms: a "stage" is Snowflake's term for a storage location it can load data from or unload data to. This update lets Files.com connect straight to a Snowflake stage, so files land ready for your data warehouse without a separate ETL or scripting step in between.

    • Entra ID Authentication for SharePoint App: SharePoint Remote servers can now run authentication via a Microsoft Entra ID rather than an interactive Microsoft Login.

June 2026

    • MCP Server: OAuth 2.0 Authentication: Having launched their AI chat assistant in the web interface in June 2026, Files.com have now enabled their hosted MCP server to support OAuth2.0 authentication. Any MCP-compatible tool can auth to Files.com via OAuth rather than a static API key. The MCP server supports CIMD and DCR. Good for connecting the likes of Claude, Cursor and Codex.

    • Outlook Add in for Windows: Having an Outlook Add in is one of the most frequent features we are asked about when a new MFT client is investigating which MFT product is right for them, so it’s great to see it being added to Files.com.

    • Scheduled Built in Reports: Love them or hate them, everyone needs to run a report from time to time. Files.com now allows site admins to schedule email reports for the likes of link activity, site usage and login history. Set it up and the report arrives automatically and on schedule. No need to rush around pulling data at the last minute!

    • New Global Storage Region (India): For major global enterprises, knowing that your SaaS tool can truly support an international workforce is key. Seeing regions being added on a regular basis is key, particularly in a world where data residency requirements are getting more robust by the minute. Files.com already boast multiple EU sites, UK, US, Canada, Australia, Japan and Singapore as available regions.
