Solent Beach Clean: Pro2col helps remove 16kg of waste

Members of the Pro2col team took part in a beach clean at Solent beach on 26th September 2021.

Organised by James Lewis, Managing Director of Pro2col, the event was part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean.

“There was an amazing turn out with a total of 33 volunteers! A mixture of Pro2col staff members and local residents of all ages assembled at the front of Solent beach to do their part in keeping our coastal bays safe, secure and clean.” James Lewis, Managing Director, Pro2col

Luckily the weather held off as the team got to work.

Bin bags and litter pickers were provided. Volunteers were also encouraged to bring their own gloves to wear, because safety and hygiene comes first. The team covered 300m of the beach and collected a total of 16kg of rubbish. Most of it was plastic (unsurprisingly), cloth, paper, metal and other materials.

Volunteers also took away items that could be recycled, whilst the remaining rubbish was disposed of safely.

As a company we’re super grateful to be a stone’s throw away from the beach. One of Pro2col’s core values is to enable our communities. This means giving our staff the opportunity to take an active and visible role in the community through charity, environmental and education initiatives.

Recycling is a big part of what we do at Pro2col. Just like items found at the beach that were recycled, we actively recycle everything from crisp packets, bottles and cardboard at the office too. Our values apply both professionally and personally.

Once again, thank you to everyone involved at the beach clean. We hope to continue helping our coastal bays stay clean, beautiful and safe for everyone to enjoy.
